Doctorate Program for Foreign Students in 2006 (April Admission)

2. Required qualifications

A person needs to satisfy all the requirements below :

1. Foreign nationality required
2. Registered students (expected) of Doctor Course of Tohoku University at the date of the first of April, 2006.
3. Conducting research on "gender law and policy in a gender equal society"
4. Adequate ability to speak and study in Japanese.

3. Application period

From Friday, 6th January to Thursday, 12th January, 2006
Office hour : 10:00-12:00 , 13:00-17:00
The application must arrive by 12th January, 2006.

4. Application Form

1. Curriculum Vitae
2. 4 copies of your Master's thesis (or equivalent). These documents must be in English, French, German or Japanese only.
   (Attention : Not required for students who submit or expect to submit a master thesis to the School of Law, Tohoku University by March, 2006.)
3. List of your own publications (must be on A4 sized paper).
   When the articles are in English, French, German or Japanese, they need to be translated in Japanese.
4. 4 copies of your research plan (within 2000 words, A4 sized paper), only in English, French, German or Japanese.
5. Registration Certificate (or letter of acceptance) of Doctor Course of Tohoku University.
   (Attention : Not required for students who graduate (expected) from the master course of the School of Law, Tohoku University by March, 2006.)
6. Alien Registration Certificate Document, which is issued by the local city office.
   (Except person who stays in Japan in less than 90 days.)

5. Selection

Selection will be made by the committee, on the basis of the documents submitted.

6. Notification of Acceptance

All the applicants will receive a written notification from the Office.

7. Research Activity and Financial Aid

"COE Doctorate Students <Foreign Students>" must carry out their research and research related to this COE Program. Each COE Doctorate Student will have an adviser (COE faculty) to give counsel for their research activities and participation of related project. COE Doctorate Student could be appointed a COE Research Assistant. In this case, they could receive up to approximately ¥80,000 yen per month (1 year from the 1st of April, 2006. This assistantships could be extended until the end of March of 2007. Successful applicants could receive a Special Research Grant of approximately ¥400,000 yen for a year from the 1st of April, 2006.

8. Note

1. When applying by post, applicants should use "Registered Mail", and write in red "Application Documents for Tohoku University Graduate School of Law (COE Doctorate Program for Foreign Students)" on the front of the envelope.
2. Once the application documents have been accepted, no changes will be allowed.
3. Any accepted documents will not be returned.

1. No personal information is not be used for other purpose.
2. Your personal information are protected strictly based on the Protection Code of Personal Information of Tohoku University Cooperation.
3. Applicants are considered to be consent with respect to the foregoing.
