In order to continue relations with Columbia University’s Institute for Research on Women and Gender , a collaborating institution since the 21st Century COE, Program Leader Tsujimura Miyoko visited the Institute on September 2nd and 15th, 2008. She met with Professor Elizabeth A. Povinelli (Institute director) and other staff members to introduce the GCOE and to discuss future collaborations. Professor Povinelli’s fields of expertise are anthropology and gender studies, and expressed great interest in the GCOE’s theme.
Columbia University’s Law School also houses the Toshiba Library for Japanese Legal Research . Nakashima Yukino, curator at the Library, kindly offered research assistance to 21st Century COE graduate students who worked from the COE’s New York Office. It is expected that collaboration will continue with the Library, acting as the New York base for the GCOE. (more…)
